primehammer Turns 10!

2025 was the year primehammer celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of helping companies around the world build reliable, scalable, and rock-star engineering teams. What started as a small vision has grown into an international engineering team known for its technical expertise, remote-first culture, and long-term client partnerships.

How It All Started

primehammer was founded in 2014 by David, a Ruby on Rails engineer who had spent years working with high-growth startups and enterprises across the US. After gaining deep experience in product engineering – and later co-founding the largest home-care marketplace in the Czech Republic – David decided to create a company where the best engineers could work remotely on meaningful projects, without sacrificing culture, growth, or collaboration.

What followed was the beginning of a journey that would take primehammer from a small Czech agency to a global engineering partner.

From the Early-Days & Beyond Ruby on Rails

One of primehammer’s earliest clients was Grover – known back then as ByeBuy – today a recognized European unicorn. In those early days, the primehammer team joined them directly in their Berlin office, working literally next to printers and shipping multiple times per day. It was a chaotic, high-energy environment, but also a perfect example of the hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach that still defines the company today.

A primehammer engineer sits at a long white desk with his back to the camera, working at a laptop. On the desk, there are another laptop and a printer to his left, and a printer to his right. Behind the desk, there's a white wall with papers and memos stuck to it, and to the right a doorless closet containing folders and boxes.

While primehammer started with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails, the team quickly expanded its expertise as client needs grew. Today, our engineers build complex systems using Python, TypeScript, DevOps tools, AI, Java, etc.

This broad technical stack allows the company to support startups, scale-ups, and bigger corporates – from MVP to enterprise-grade platforms.

Education and Community at the Core

A big part of primehammer’s culture has always been learning and community. Over the years, the team has visited conferences across Europe, but Euruko remains a favorite. Many of the company’s best memories come from meeting the Ruby community there.

Even as the team has grown, primehammer has stayed committed to maintaining a supportive, personal culture. Every engineer is known by name, and client relationships are built on trust and direct collaboration. The team frequently meets clients around the world – in Geneva, New York, London, Berlin, Denver, Oslo, San Francisco, Stuttgart, Helsinki, and more. Whether it’s a quick coffee check-in or a fun activity together, these real-world connections help strengthen teams and deliver better results.

Along the way, primehammer’s engineers have built several side projects – often just for fun – including Epic Avatar AI, Auto Seduction AI, and CVfast. Some generated revenue, but the company’s primary focus remains delivering exceptional engineering outcomes for clients.

primehammer also contributed locally, organizing events such as Ruby Stories, with the company’s first Ruby meetup launched in 2016.

10 Years of Milestones

  • 2014 – primehammer is founded in the Czech Republic
  • 2015 – Brno office opens; team reaches 10 members and secures 3 US clients
  •
2016 – Launch of Ruby Stories meetup

  • 2023 – First internal product released; expansion to Poland

  • 2024 – Expansion to Latin America; team grows to 30 members

  • 2025 – primehammer achieves ISO certification
  • Today, the company is headquartered in Brno but operates as a remote-first engineering organization, now working with talented engineers in Europe and Latin America.

How we celebrated

For our 10-year anniversary, we went all out on activities! We had three full days of online games, to include LATAM engineers and those who couldn’t make it to the office – from online board games, to Vibe-coding games, 2D sidescrollers, and multi-player Snakes.

Offline, we split into teams before heading to the office, and went on Squid Games-inspired quests on the streets of Brno. The cherry on top was the office Street Fighter game competition on Sega Mega Drive.

Looking Ahead: Thank You for 10 Amazing Years

As primehammer celebrates its 10th anniversary, the company extends a warm and heartfelt thank you to all clients, partners, and team members who helped shape its journey.

The next decade promises new technologies, new markets, and new opportunities – but the mission remains the same: helping clients succeed through great engineering and a culture that puts people first.
